Henry
About 12 years ago we never knew what a pug was. Then we adopted a 1 year old fawn, Mikey, and our lives changed forever! No more weekend naps, throwing neckties over chairs, shoes left on the floor, draping a kitchen towel from the fridge handle, or even leaving the bathroom doors opened (he likes to play with the toilet paper). We love everything about pugs, the way they snore, their cute little faces, their intense curiosity and their philosophy "everything is a toy."
Since we first adopted Mikey, our little pug family has grown thanks to the devotion and efforts of rescue groups such as Prairie Pugs.
Our first experience with Prairie Pugs was with the adoption of a little female fawn, Peggy Su. Peggy Su was in foster care in Wichita, a 3 hour drive from our city. Dennis Dressler volunteered to fly Peggy Su to an airport in our neighborhood. When the plane landed and the doors opened up, the cutest bundle of fur emerged in Dennis' arms. It was our little Peggy Su! Vicki & Dennis guided us through the entire adoption process and when Peggy Su was diagnosed with cancer, they immediately drove to visit with her and say their "good-byes."
This past June we adopted another little fur baby, Henry, from Prairie Pugs. We nicknamed him En-ray (the French version.) He is just an adorable 20 lbs. puppy, full of love and affection! Initially, we went to Prairie Pugs with the intention of adopting another black pug, a companion for our female, Ebony. But, after Vicki & Dennis carefully evaluated our situation they recommended we adopt Henry. As things developed, Henry was really the pug that belonged in our family! The instant we held Henry, he became a part of our family and we love him so much. He is just one of our children whom we love.
